    Directions to your claim.
    Galen Ghosts Gold -
From Oroville, take HWY 162 (Oroville/Quincy Highway) north/east out of town and follow it as it crosses an arm of Oroville. About
    23
    miles up the highway
you will reach Stanwood Saddle. Its just after Berry Creek but before Brush Creek. The road sign shows there will be a left coming up onto French Creek Rd, but you will actually be pulling off to the right side of the road and down the hidden road on the right. There is a forest sign calling that road 21n21. Take that small dirt road 0.4 miles to arrive at claim. This road is kind of washed out, but its short. You will see the small campspot on the left and a yellow claim sign on the tree. Follow the abandoned road down to the Ghost Cars. Left here from another time, their Ghosts are looking over the gold.
The Feather River is in one of the richest gold areas in the state. This claim is on Galen Creek, which flows down into the Feather River arm of lake Shasta. Its very hard to find a claim in this part of gold country,
    especially
    one so close to town.
This claim features a nice camping spot overlooking Galen Creek. The creek is smaller but it is listed as a year round creek. Its just about 20 feet below the camping flat.
Access in is very short. Its only about 45 minutes to Oroville, paved the whole way until the last quarter mile. The 1/4 mile is dirt and kind of bumpy but very short. I wouldnt take grandmas car out here, but you do NOT need 4wd. A Subaru or 2wd pickup would do fine.
The area is free of other people. Ive never seen anyone else down here, and you have views of nothing but the forest and woods. There are a few old cars abandoned here 50 years ago. They kind of give a spooky "ghost-like" vibe to the area.
The North Fire did burn this area, but it mostly burnt the thick underbrush, not the tall trees. Now you have better access to the claims acres and the creek. The green is already coming back.
There is about 1500 feet of creek on the claim.
This is "Galens Ghosts Gold," now make yourself an excuse to get out there and enjoy the outdoors and the cool creek.
Here's what the winning bidder will receive...

An "Unpatented Mining Claim" means you own the "Mineral Rights" to the land and NOT the land itself. The land itself is still owned by the Federal Government.
The BLM is in the process of changing the format of the LR2000 to MLRS mining claims report and getting rid of the CAMC numbers.  They will be issuing new serial numbers in the near future.  All paperwork is current and has been filed with the California BLM.
You are allowed to prospect the surface material of your claim including panning, sluicing, dry washing, metal detecting, and rock hounding for all precious metals and minerals (not just gold).
As with ALL UNPATENTED MINING CLAIMS on Forest Service land, you must file a "Plan of Operation" for any extensive mining operations beyond casual prospecting with the U.S. Forest Service.
All paperwork and fees are current through September 1st,  2021.
You cannot (at this time)"patent" this, or any unpatented mining claim. Which means, you cannot purchase the land from the Government for residential use. Mining claim "patents" have not been granted since 1992, and will take an act of Congress to do so again.
You may camp on your claim for two weeks if not prospecting, and you may camp virtually as long as you want if you are actively prospecting. Always check with BLM about extended camping related to prospecting.  You can also recreate, hunt, quad, swim, horseback ride and do any activity besides prospect.  NO permanent structures may be built unless directly related to mining.
Once a placer claim is staked and filed with the proper agencies, it must be maintained on an annual basis. Proof that it is properly maintained must be filed with the appropriate County, and State office of the BLM on or before September 1
    st
    of each year.
Mining Claims are considered "real property" and as such, can be sold, leased, and transferred to family members.
As long as you complete your paperwork and pay your yearly fees on time, your mining claim CANNOT be taken from you.
The owner of an unpatented mining claim may
    either
, pay the annual 5.00 yearly maintenance fee
    or
, perform a minimum of  0 worth of annual labor or improvements (EXAMPLE: Road improvement, clearing overgrown vegetation from access road, trash removal, etc....) on each claim by filing a Small Miners Waiver. You may file this waiver if you own 10 claims or less nationwide. (Check with the BLM for that fee amount.)
Currently the yearly maintenance fee for a 20 Acre mining claim to the BLM is 5.
