    Description

Nice Lot of 7 Civil War Burnside Carbine Cartridges Excavated/Dug Together in Corse's Fort, Alatoona, Georgia
    DESCRIPTION:
Very unusual collection of 7 original Civil War dug/excavated empty Burnside carbine cartridges. Found together, so believe they were all fired by the same gun at the same time, either during a battle or practice area. They have the characteristic conical shape of the Burnside cartridge. They appear flattened, either intentionally back then or from the weight of the ground over the years.
They have a nice dug brass patina and are in excellent excavated condition.
They are a very early find, and came with the original early Labelmaker labels of identification (Corse's Fort, Allatoona, Ga). They were found on private land with owner's permission.
4 of these are complete cartridges. 3 are pieces of individual cartridges that almost look like they exploded when fired. In any event, a great grouping for any gun, carbine, or cavalry collection or display.
