Description
This is an Authentic Civil War Era Henry Potter & Company Marching Snare DrumAcquired some time ago from a Virginia estate sale, we're proud to offer this drum for sale. We also have a second drum offered for sale in our store.
Made between 1858-1876 at 30 Charing Cross London by Henry Potter & Company. We believe the mid section is made of copper and at one point was completely illustrated in color. Some of the colored paint remains on the copper. There is a full manufacturers name and address engraved mid center that says HENRY POTTER & CO Maker 30 Charing Cross London 1.st B.G.G 2.
Round wood top and bottom frame with wood trim covered in some form of skin. At the bottom of the drum edge there are three brass knob hooks for resting drum. Also there are a couple of brass rope insert holders on the sides to thread rope through for securing to a person playing. Original rope has come loose in a couple of spots. It too was painted and now faded.
*Measures 15 1/4" inches in diameter and 14" inches tall
