This imported British 1856 Enfield rifle brown leather battle damaged sling was used by Sergeant Jacob Andrews of Company C, 2

Texas C.S. Cavalry at the Battle of Palmetto Ranch, Texas on May 13, 1865. He gave it to his grandson James Andrews in 1898 who later had it on display in his United Confederate Veterans Museum near Brownsville Texas until 1929 when the museum closed down.
This is quite a unique artifact as it is from where both 2nd. Texas Cavalry soldiers, C.S. & U.S, fought against each other! This sling is 46 3/4” long with a brass hook on one end & has 2 field repairs using some tan leather It is in very good excavated condition &n is still fairly soft & flexible.
It comes with a certificate of authenticity, an Andrews Collection letter & historical research.
