LOCATED IN:
You have found this lot for sale in Fairfield Bay, AR, which is in Van Buren County. The Natural State prides itself on living up to its name, and much of what draws visitors and residents is found outdoors. With four distinct seasons but mild winters, Arkansans have plenty of time to enjoy the 250 lakes and reservoirs, 9000 miles of streams and rivers, more than 16,000 public and private campgrounds, numerous state parks, hot springs, caverns, mountains and valleys. Fishing and hunting, golfing and boating are popular pastimes. There are spectacular views and hiking trails in the Ozarks and Ouachitas Mountains, or you can take a step back in time in Fort Smith, the state’s second largest city where urbanism meets history. Visit the Fort Smith National Historic Site, or take in the Clinton Presidential Library in the state capital of Little Rock. Located in the center of the state along the banks of the Arkansas River, Little Rock is a lively city with a divergent blend of cultures in its many restaurants, entertainment venues and nightlife. The corporate headquarters of the nation’s largest retailer, Walmart, is found in the northwest of the state in Bentonville, and the surrounding cities of Fayetteville and Springdale make up a fast-growing metropolitan area. Much of the state is rural, however, lending itself to farming. Food production is the state’s largest employer, and it leads the nation in rice and poultry, is sixth in cotton and eighth in soybeans. Arkansas has a wide variety of minerals and supplies 80% of the country’s bauxite, which is used to make aluminum. It is the only U.S. state where diamonds are mined, although not for commercial purposes. Visitors can try their luck at Crater of Diamonds, where diamonds were first found in 1906, and where more than 70,000 gems have been discovered since. The public pays to dig, and gets to keep what they find. The state’s easy-going attitude combined with its penchant for the outdoors and a low cost of living make Arkansas an attractive home for nearly three million people.
