MINT Antique Qing Dynasty Imperial Dragon Robe 19th Century Chinese Silk Embroidery
This is an exceptional example of an authentic late 19th century Qing Dynasty Blue Imperial Dragon Robe. Unfortunately, I had to use the flash when photographing this robe. These photographs really don't do justice to this piece. All of the variations in the brightness of the fabric are due to the flash from my camera. The actual colors on this robe are completely uniform and visually stunning. This robe was purchased at a local antique faire and was packed away many years ago in seemingly barely worn condition. The only condition issues that i see are: Hard creases along the sleeves at the tops. The fabric is still perfectly intact, but the creases are really in there. Also, several loose threads here and there, including a couple of loose threads at the top of the left shoulder dragon. Two noticeable fade marks in the blue silk backing fabric along the front side five or six inches below the tops of the shoulders(you can see these most prominently in the photographs of the individual sleeves). Finally, there is some discoloration in the gold threads used to make the top dragon on the backside. Two areas are darker than the rest. There are no holes or tears to the silk fabric. This piece still retains a beautiful, crisp, almost new feel to it. This robe is on the large side, possibly even a contemporary XL. Be sure to check the measurements below.
