Neat relic! Smooth sided canteen-pierced - Found Ft Craig New Mexico in 1960's

Check my other auctions for more dug relics from New Mexico.  This was part of a large collection accumulated by a man (now deceased) who used to metal detect around Fort Craig NM (1854-1888) in the 1950's-1960's. Not sure if this dates to the Civil War or Indian Wars. Smooth sided Cavalry canteen, that is fairly well crushed, and was cut or stabbed from one side thru to the other side.  Good, solid dug condition-no flaking rust. One side is very dark-was probably a surface find. Spout is missing. Measures approx. 7 1/2" in diameter.  Scarce display item!   Always glad to combine shipping if you win more than one auction.
