Original Federal Pattern of 1864 Cartridge box for .58 caliber elongated ball

This is an original Civil War Federal Cartridge box. Based on the book Civil War Cartridge Boxes of the Union Infantryman by Paul D. Johnson this is a pattern of July 1864 Cartridge box made to fit .58 Caliber elongated ball cartridges. The front flap has the embossed US stamp which replaced the brass cartridge box plate. Also on the front lower left corner is an inspectors stamp, it cannot be read. The makers stamp is located on the reverse of the box, it is stamped upside down and can be partly read. It was made by S.H. Young & Co. Newark, N.J. The box comes with a set of tins that are in my opinion replicas. The lack the center divider in the top tray. They do help to keep the shape of the box.
