Rare 1861 Dated Colt Contract Bayonet. Collins Co. under contract by Colt firearms made these saber bayonets for the Colt muskets. This one is dated 1861 and has serial numbers on the brass hilt. No other markings but these appear to be for that Colt contract. This is a Mississippi style saber bayonet that was popular early in the Civil War. Came from an old collection in Chickasha, Oklahoma not far from Ft. Sill and the grave of Geronimo.
