I’ve decided to focus more on collecting & preservation and less on casting, especially with my difficult to work with, irreplaceable, and/or high value molds due to the risk of wear & tear etc. Thank you for the support during the time I’ve been doing this!Kindly note that you are buying the bullets and not the mold.
Six Sharps Model 1852 Sporting Rifle Bullets From Rare Pre-Civil War Bullet Mold. Silver/Gold Cast Bullets Also Available!
This listing is for lead bullets hand cast directly from the original & rare bullet mold pictured. You will get 6 bullets from this very rare bullet mold (mold made just 3 years after Sharps company was established). The mold is marked ‘90’ which corresponds to .36 caliber. Many of these early Sharps molds cast bullets used by the Confederacy in the Civil War. I can also cast larger quantities of lead bullets if requested. Note that these bullets are cast from pure soft lead (ballast or X-ray sheets) and have no fired bullets/wheel weights/unknown alloys mixed in.
Please note that each single purchase is for the lead bullets only (
not the bullet mold
). The bullets similar to the ones you will receive are pictured next to a nickel for scale (nickel not included). The linen gift pouch will be included with your purchase. This mold cast bullets of exactly the type used in the Civil War, whose bullets are still found very rarely at some sites today!
Shipping costs for the first item are accurate and calculated using the USPS counter weight. I do not inflate shipping/handling. I combine shipping, each additional purchase is shipped; please request an invoice upon checkout and I’ll send with this shipping discount. Thank you!
Please reference the wonderful reloading tool bible ‘Reloading Tools of the Black Powder Era’. Volume II page 50 which describes this early bullet mold, with a rarity of 4 out of 5 (2nd highest rarity). I’ve taken the specific pictures and added them to this auction catalog. I highly recommend these two volumes for any serious reloading collector and a great resource to have.
